2005 XENA Product review
For 2005 XENA has completely redesigned and improved their product line.
XENA also has taken steps to improve customer service. They have now taken control of distribution and fulfillment.
Last year I met by telephone the owner and Managing Director of XENA, Mr. Ivan Foti. He impressed me with not only being a gentleman but a man of high integrity and honor.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with Tristan Mullane from XENA Security USA at a motorcycle trade show . Great guy, highly professional and a pleasure to work with. They have assured me that they will do everything in their power to make sure my customers are satisfied. They stand behind the product 100%.
This should help us to deliver even better service and customer support.
In addition to the new design, there are also a new range of colors both in a high quality paint and anodized metal finish. The anodized metal finish is particularly beautiful. The images on the web do not capture and reflect the jewel like finish.
The new design also improves the water resistance over previous versions. The new versions are designed to withstand heavy rain.
Like last year's model, the alarm mechanism has Dual sensors -motion and shock plus a Smart-Arm disc sensor. The alarm, once set, can be triggered by any movement of the motorcycle in any direction. If the lock is moved while on the rotor the Smart-arm disc sensor detects the presence of the rotor. When you remove the lock from the rotor with the key, the alarm immediately shuts off. If it is triggered it will sound for 15 seconds then re-arm itself. It also has high security keys, which look almost impossible to duplicate. The downside is you have to be careful not to loose your keys. The alarm is VERY loud. It can be heard from a distance, which helps if you are in a hotel room.
All of the new models are extremely attractive and the fit and finish is significantly better than previous versions. All Xena locks pass the most rigorous standards in the world, Sold Secure, ART, Classe SRA and VAT. Only 10% of locks made world wide can meet these standards.
If you are on a limited budget, this is one of the best basic anti-theft
products on the market.
Here is a comparison chart between the previous model and the 2005 model.
