3 Q: Why is the RoadLoK MID only available online from Bike Bone?
A: The RoadLoK™ MID is a premium product that can only be fully understood and properly handled by professional online distributors. There are plenty of reputable aftermarket-product distributors in cyberspace, but Bike Bone specializes in motorcycle security products. The Bike Bone Team is comprised of real motorcycle enthusiasts that are in this market because they actually enjoy the sport and lifestyle of motorcycling. We are truly honored to work with Bike Bone!

4 Q: How do I install my RoadLoK MID?
A: The RoadLoK MID is installed in-place of your factory rear brake caliper perch (the bracket that holds the caliper to the swing arm). If you can adjust your chain, you can install the RoadLoK MID. It typically takes 10 to 45 minutes, depending upon skill. Top
5 Q: Can I have somebody install my RoadLoK MID for me?
A: Yes. The RoadLoK MID comes with a Dealer/Installer Guide you can take to your local motorcycle shop instructing them how to install it. You can also take it to a Certified RoadLoK Installer. Check www.roadlok.com/installers for a location near you. Top
6 Q: Will my RoadLoK MID void my factory warranty?
A: No. According to the manufacturer’s warranty the RoadLoK MID will not void the factory warranty because the RoadLoK MID does not modify the motorcycle in any way, shape, or form. The RoadLoK MID has been precision engineered to work seamlessly with your factory rear swing arm, brake rotor, and caliper without modifying any systems or the factory geometry. Top
7 Q: How much does the RoadLoK MID weigh? Does it add a lot of unsprung weight?
A: Under 4 lbs, and no. The RoadLoK MID is constructed of hardened aluminum to reduce weight; however it is positioned about one foot above the road surface so it does not affect the center-of-gravity of your motorcycle. It is also centrally-positioned near the wheel hub, not far out to the side. Our testing did not show any significant handling impact. Additionally, the stock caliper perch is being replaced by the RoadLoK MID, so you are not adding 3.5 lbs.; you are only “adding” about 2.1 lbs. to the weight of your motorcycle. Your bike’s performance would be more affected by wearing a 3 lb. disc lock on either side of your belt. Top
8 Q: Can the RoadLoK MID lock during riding causing me to wreck my bike?
A: No. It is not possible for the RoadLoK MID to lock during operation because the actual locking pin (BrakeBolt) is in your pocket, or clipped to your keys. Top
9 Q: What if I lose my keys?
A: The RoadLoK MID is supplemented by the RoadLoK ReKey™ Program, enabling you to submit a claim for a duplicate key in the event that you lose yours. Only New Hampton Technologies (the developers of the RoadLoK MID) can produce a new key for you. Top
10 Q: Can’t I just hire a locksmith to pick my lock if I lose my keys?
A: No. You can try to find a locksmith to pick your lock, but you’d be throwing your money away. The RoadLoK MID is outfitted exclusively with an ABLOY® lock cylinder: the world’s only unpickable lock. Upon submitting your ReKey™ Claim Form a RoadLoK rep will contact you to verify shipment of the replacement key. Replacement keys are a first priority, as no locksmith can assist a locked-out customer. Top
11 Q: How many keys do I get with my RoadLoK MID?
A: Two patented ABLOY® keys. Top
12 Q: What happens if I get dirt, mud, or snow in my RoadLoK MID?
A: Snow? You are a better rider than I. If your lock gets dirt, mud, street grime, or grease in it you can flush it with water, blast it with an air hose, or spray it with WD-40 and a straw. The inner lock cylinder component design is highly resistant to harsh environmental conditions such as dirt, sand, freezing and corrosion. The BrakeBolt receiver hole is self-cleaning as well, and equipped with an inner drain. Top
13 Q: Is there a warranty on the RoadLoK MID?
A: Yes, a Lifetime Warranty. Top
14 Q: What if I lose my BrakeBolt locking pin?
A: You can order a replacement BrakeBolt for $59.99. Top
15 Q: Is the lock cylinder drill resistant?
A: Yes. ABLOY designed the lock cylinder with a hardened steel primary rotating disc that spins free when a drill bit is placed in the cylinder. The drill has nothing to bite into, so the bit just keeps spinning. The lock cylinder only gets hot, but it is designed to withstand very high temps too! There are no springs, tumblers, or pins in this lock cylinder. It is impossible to pick and even more so to defeat. Top
16 Q: Will it resist Freon attacks?
A: Yes. It has been designed to retain structural integrity when ultra-low temps and blunt force (i.e. chisel, hammer, screwdriver) are applied. Top
17 Q: Can I get this in any other color?
A: As of now, we offer the RoadLoK MID in a Hammer Black powdercoat finish. An unfinished version may become available so the you can paint your MID to match your bike. Top
18 Q: Does the RoadLoK MID work with aftermarket rotors?
A: We do not guarantee that the RoadLoK MID will work with any aftermarket parts. We have precision-engineered the MID to work with your OEM rear brake and swing arm system. Using the RoadLoK MID with any aftermarket rotors or calipers will void the Lifetime Warranty. Top
19 Q: When will a RoadLoK MID be available for my bike?
A: We are hard at work developing MIDs for other makes and models. Please refer to our production schedule to find yours. If you do not see your motorcycle model listed, or if you would like your MID sooner, complete the LoK Me In form. The more riders in our database with a particular make and model, the sooner we will produce it. Top
